The Doors are opening the vaults. Surviving members Robby Krieger and John Densmore have assembled and sequenced a brand-new 16-track double live album, 'Unbound and Dangerous,' drawn from the band's legendary 1970 Roadhouse Blues Tour. The Announcement
The news broke in early September 2026, with the announcement rolling out between September 2 and 4 via Parade, music-news.com, The Music Universe and The Blues Magazine. The album was assembled and sequenced by Robby Krieger and John Densmore with longtime engineer Bruce Botnick — who also mixed it — capturing the band at its most raw and electric.
In the official press release, John Densmore said: “I knew Jim was ‘dangerous’ from the beginning. Talented and dangerous… This live album captures that wild spirit.”
Engineer Bruce Botnick added in the official promo: “The fans came in the thousands to Doors concerts looking for danger and excitement… Jim was always reading the room and knew how far to push the envelope.”

The Band’s Final Tour in Context
Formed in Los Angeles in 1965, The Doors released six studio albums and became one of rock's defining bands on the strength of classics like “Light My Fire” and “Hello, I Love You.” The Roadhouse Blues Tour was the band's final major tour with frontman Jim Morrison, who died in Paris on July 3, 1971, at the age of 27. Keyboardist Ray Manzarek died in 2013.
Unbound and Dangerous follows in the lineage of Absolutely Live, the band's landmark 1970 concert album, offering a deeper, newly mixed dive into the same era's onstage electricity.
