OASIS BIOGRAPHY - AGE, MEMBERS, SONGS & FACTS

Oasis is the British rock band formed in Manchester, England, in 1991 that became the central figures of the Britpop movement. Led by brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, the band released 7 studio albums, with Definitely Maybe (1994) and (What's the Story) Morning Glory? (1995) turning anthems like "Wonderwall" and "Don't Look Back in Anger" into era-defining hits.

After their dramatic split in 2009, the Gallaghers announced a reunion in 2024, followed by the record-breaking Oasis Live '25 comeback run and the newly announced Oasis Live '27 stadium tour.

Oasis Band Members

The heart of Oasis is the Gallagher brothers: Liam Gallagher (lead vocals) and Noel Gallagher (lead guitar, principal songwriter). The classic 1990s line-up also featured Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs (rhythm guitar), Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan (bass) and Tony McCarroll (drums), with Alan White taking over on drums from 1995. The reunion touring band brings the two brothers back together on the same stage for the first time in over 15 years.

The Rise: Britpop Kings

Oasis exploded with their debut Definitely Maybe in 1994, then the fastest-selling debut album in UK chart history. Its follow-up, (What's the Story) Morning Glory? (1995), sold more than 22 million copies worldwide on the strength of "Wonderwall", "Don't Look Back in Anger" and "Champagne Supernova". In July 2026, according to reports, the album overtook Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band as the UK's best-selling studio album of all time. Across 7 studio albums — ending with Dig Out Your Soul (2008) — Oasis defined an era alongside fellow Britpop-era hitmakers; read our Robbie Williams biography and Coldplay biography for more on the 90s British scene.

The Split and the Reunion

The original run ended on August 28, 2009, when a backstage argument at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris led Noel Gallagher to quit the band. For 15 years the brothers traded barbs in the press while pursuing separate careers. The band also moved to block the sale of unreleased 90s recordings — see our report on the Oasis desk tapes auction stopped. The reunion was announced in August 2024, and Oasis Live '25 ran from July to November 2025: 41 concerts in 14 countries with more than 2 million tickets sold, closing in São Paulo.

Oasis Live '27 Tour

The 42-date Oasis Live '27 stadium tour was announced on September 14, 2026. It opens at Glasgow's Celtic Park on May 21, 2027, then brings 11 nights to Manchester's Etihad Stadium in June. July takes the band to Munich, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Paris and Rome; August heads to Boston and Las Vegas; September closes with Slane Castle in Ireland and six nights at Knebworth. Richard Ashcroft supports all UK dates. Noel Gallagher has ruled out new music, saying: "There won't be any new music." The reunion documentary Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger, from Steven Knight with Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, premiered at the Venice Film Festival in September 2026; it arrives in cinemas and IMAX from September 11 before streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.
