On November 4, 2026, in Toronto, Canada, U2 and Guinness unveiled a limited-edition pearl-white-marble 1LP vinyl of "Carnaval De Luz", arriving November 13, 2026 to mark the band's 50th anniversary. The collector-grade pressing pairs two Irish icons on U2's 16th studio album - and for the full five-decade story behind the band, read our U2 biography.
The story goes back 48 years: it was a Guinness-run talent contest in 1978 that handed U2 their first big break, long before the stadium tours and global fame. Now that history comes full circle with a release built for collectors - see the Carnaval De Luz album page for the complete tracklist. The album itself (Island Records, produced by Jacknife Lee) is the band's first new material in nine years, led by the singles "Street of Dreams", "Silencio" - read the Silencio lyrics - and "The Greatest Show On Earth", co-written with Brian Eno and paired with an Anton Corbijn-directed video filmed in the Californian desert that portrays the band as a satirical cult.
