About the Album

The User's Guide to Being Human is the eighth studio album by Irish pop-rock band The Script, released on August 14, 2026, via BMG Rights Management on CD, digital download and streaming. The album reached No. 1 in the UK and follows 2024's Satellites.

The album was recorded in Topanga Canyon, Los Angeles. Frontman Danny O'Donoghue reunited with songwriting partners Andrew Frampton and Steve Kipner, plus Jimbo Barry — the team behind "Hall of Fame", "The Man Who Can't Be Moved" and "Breakeven".

Satellites (2024) was the album O'Donoghue made while processing the grief of losing bandmate and friend Mark Sheehan in 2023, and The User's Guide to Being Human is framed as the purposeful next chapter.

Across their career, The Script have scored six UK No. 1 albums and eight in Ireland, with over 14 billion streams, 5 million album sales and 4.5 million tickets sold. The album's widescreen choruses sit in the same arena-anthem tradition as Coldplay's biggest singalongs — see Yellow lyrics — Coldplay and Fix You lyrics — Coldplay.

Singles

Lead single "Man in the Arena" arrived in May 2026. It is a rousing anthem with a hard-hitting R&B groove and a classic Script mega-chorus, and its lyrics draw in part on Theodore Roosevelt's 1910 "Citizenship in a Republic" speech, "The Man in the Arena". The official video was directed by Charles Mehling, who also directed the band's classic "Breakeven" and "For The First Time" videos.

The second single, "The Crowd Was Singing Wonderwall", followed in July 2026. Its title nods to Oasis's best-known song — see Wonderwall lyrics — Oasis — and the band's story is covered in our Oasis biography.

Tour

The Script will support the album with a UK and Ireland arena headline tour from October 30, 2026, starting in Dublin and running through November, before heading to Europe and globally into 2027.

On the Man in the Arena Tour, the band play Manila on March 18, 2027, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, followed by Australia in March 2027 — Brisbane Entertainment Centre on March 23, Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on March 25, and Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney on March 27 — the band's 12th Australian headline tour.
