The Vienna Cancellations
Swift's three Eras Tour shows at Vienna's Ernst Happel Stadium, scheduled for August 8–10, 2024, were canceled after authorities uncovered a thwarted terrorist plot. Two teenage suspects were arrested, and the Vienna dates — expected to draw more than 200,000 fans from around the world — never went ahead.
Swift waited two weeks before making her first statement after the cancellations.
Three Stories in One Film
The documentary follows three strands. The first is the ticking-clock intelligence operation — involving the CIA, Britain's MI5, and Austrian and German agencies — that stopped the attack. The second follows three Swifties who turned the shock of the cancellation into a local support network. The third centers on the main perpetrator, Beran A., then 19, an Austrian citizen of North Macedonian descent who, per reports, had sworn allegiance to the Islamic State.
The main suspect pleaded guilty in April 2026 and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Two Youth Cultures
Per its synopsis, as reported by Variety, the documentary juxtaposes "two vastly different youth subcultures: the inclusive, empowered world of the Swifties and a realm of toxic masculinity, fueled by online radicalization and a desperate need for validation."
