NIALL HORAN BIOGRAPHY - AGE, CAREER, SONGS & FACTS

Niall Horan is an Irish singer and songwriter who first found global fame as a member of One Direction, one of the best-selling boy bands of all time. After the group went on hiatus, he launched a successful solo career, earning chart-topping albums and worldwide hits such as "This Town", "Slow Hands" and "Heaven".

From a self-taught teenage guitarist in Mullingar to a multi-platinum solo artist and winning coach on The Voice US, Niall's journey has been remarkable. Read on for his age, early life, career highlights, biggest songs and the latest news from his 2026–2027 tour.

Early Life & Age

Niall James Horan was born on 13 September 1993 in Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland. As of October 2026, he is 33 years old.

He taught himself to play the guitar at the age of 11, learning by watching videos on YouTube. That self-taught beginning shaped the warm, guitar-driven pop sound that would later define his solo music.

Career

Niall's big break came in 2010, when he auditioned for the UK edition of The X Factor. He was grouped with four other contestants to form One Direction, alongside Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, fellow One Direction star Harry Styles and Niall Horan's One Direction bandmate Zayn Malik. The band finished third on the show but became a global phenomenon, releasing five studio albums together before going on hiatus in 2016.

After the hiatus, Niall signed with Capitol Records as a solo artist. His debut solo single, "This Town", arrived in 2016 and celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2026. His debut album, Flicker (2017), reached No. 1 in Ireland and the US, while its standout single "Slow Hands" joined Spotify's Billions Club in 2025.

His second album, Heartbreak Weather (2020), topped the charts in the UK, Ireland and Mexico. The third, The Show (2023), also hit No. 1 in Ireland and the UK, driven by the singles "Heaven" and "Meltdown". His fourth studio album, Dinner Party, was released on 5 June 2026 and debuted at No. 1 in the UK, Ireland and Australia — his third UK No. 1 and his biggest solo opening week to date. Its singles include the title track "Dinner Party", "Little More Time" and "End of an Era".

Beyond music, Niall has become a familiar television face: according to official tour press, he was a winning coach across three seasons of The Voice US. In September 2025, he joined WHOOP as an investor and ambassador, per the company's announcement.

The Dinner Party: Live on Tour launched on 22 September 2026 at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham. The 55-date run covers the UK, Europe, Australia (February 2027) and North America, and is set to end on 29 May 2027 in Vancouver. The opening night featured an emotional tribute to Liam Payne, who died in 2024: a voice recording of Payne played after "End of an Era", a song Niall wrote as a tribute to his late bandmate. The UK leg wrapped in early October 2026, and Niall will play Dublin's 3Arena on 9, 10, 12 and 13 November 2026.
