The Induction Night

Randy Owen of Alabama did the honors, inducting McGraw and presenting him with his medallion before the packed CMA Theater. In the audience were his wife Faith Hill and their daughters Maggie, 28, and Audrey, 24, who watched as an emotional McGraw delivered his acceptance speech. Turning to Hill, he said: "The only thing that can beat this night is when you're standing here and I'm sitting there."

Tribute Performances

The night's tribute performances spanned generations of McGraw's influence. Lainey Wilson sang "Don't Take the Girl," Lady A performed "Live Like You Were Dying," and the lineup also featured Parker McCollum, Blake Shelton and Billy Strings, each putting their own stamp on the catalog that made McGraw a country staple. Class of 2026

McGraw was inducted alongside songwriter Paul Overstreet and bluegrass legends the Stanley Brothers, completing the Class of 2026. The inductees were announced on March 20, 2026, a year after Kenny Chesney entered the Hall in 2025. Page Six reported on Oct 22 that the ceremony was also John Anderson's final public outing before his death at 71 — read our tribute: Country Music Icon John Anderson Dead at 71. McGraw's cross-generational pull is no secret: Taylor Swift named her debut single after him (see Taylor Swift's debut album turns 20).
