"Patient Zero" debuted at #1 on Spotify's Global chart on 25 September 2026 with 13.7 million streams (13,709,109) — the biggest single-day streams for a female artist in 2026 so far.
It is the second-biggest song debut on Spotify's Global chart in 2026 — only BTS's "SWIM" (14.6 million streams) opened bigger.
All four tracks from The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore landed in Spotify's Daily Global top four simultaneously — "Patient Zero" (13.709M, #1), "Cleveland!" (9.62M, #2), "Pink Clouding" (8.78M, #3) and "Babylon" (8.41M, #4). Combined, the four tracks pulled 40.5 million streams — the biggest deluxe-album debut in Spotify's history.
After a day-two dip to around 5.55 million streams, "Patient Zero" reclaimed the Global #1 spot on 1 October with 7.6 million streams in a single day.
Swift's record week
On US iTunes, "Patient Zero" replaced her own "The Fate of Ophelia" at #1, taking her career total to 82 US iTunes #1 songs — the most of any artist.
At the MTV Video Music Awards on 27 September, Swift picked up three wins — Video of the Year for "The Fate of Ophelia", Best Direction for "Opalite" and the inaugural Artist Director Honors — taking her career tally to 33 Moon Persons, the most-awarded artist in VMA history.

"Patient Zero" is the self-directed single from The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, the four-song deluxe edition. Its video premiered at the 2026 VMAs, starring Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell, with cinematography by Emmanuel Lubezki.
On the UK Official Singles chart, the final result is still pending — Swift is the favourite, but the race has not been decided. She is also widely projected to debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 when the chart publishes on 10 October, with prediction markets giving her around 95% odds — but that remains a projection, not a confirmed result.
