Surface, Echo & Sound is the eighth studio album by British rock band Editors, fronted by Tom Smith, and it arrives on Friday, October 30, 2026 via Play It Again Sam (PIAS) Records.
The album marks a return to the practice-room method for Editors, with the band regrouping in Gloucestershire in summer 2025 and building the songs together from acoustic-based sketches brought in by Tom Smith, before guitarist Justin Lockey recorded and produced the follow-up to EBM (2022).

Singles and Background
The lead single is "The Rush", and its official video was shot in Tokyo and directed by Henry Ehara. The album follows EBM (2022), the band's collaboration with Benjamin John Power (Blanck Mass).
Editors regrouped in Gloucestershire in summer 2025, returning to a practice-room method in which Tom Smith brought acoustic-based sketches to the band. Guitarist Justin Lockey recorded and produced the sessions, and the resulting sound is more organic and song-first than EBM, with acoustic guitars and mandolin at its core.
The band have also announced a UK, Europe and Ireland headline tour for early 2027, with the announced dates concluding at Southampton O2 Guildhall on March 12.
