Breaking news from Billboard Latin Music Week 2026 in Miami: Anuel AA has revealed that he is working on a corridos album — a full-length project he describes as a tribute to Mexico. The reggaeton star made the announcement during the industry's biggest week, confirming that the new music is being developed alongside his long-awaited sequel Real Hasta La Muerte 2.
The Miami week delivered a second surprise from Maluma, who teased that he wants to explore música mexicana further after the success of his collaboration "Según Quién" with Carín León. The Colombian star stopped short of announcing a dedicated album — but his interest in the genre's sound and storytelling is unmistakable. The twin revelations underline how deeply música mexicana is reshaping the Latin mainstream, following genre-crossing moves by stars like Bad Bunny and Karol G.
Anuel's Corridos Project
According to reports from Consequence, musictimes, remezcla, kzk101 and winnebanews (October 21–22, 2026), Anuel AA confirmed the corridos project during his appearance at Billboard Latin Music Week 2026 in Miami. The album is a tribute to Mexico and is being worked on alongside Real Hasta La Muerte 2, which is expected in November 2026.
Anuel has been steadily building his corridos credentials: he has collaborated with Jesús Ortiz Paz of Fuerza Regida and recorded "Los Leo" with Álex Torres. Fans should note, however, that no release date has been announced for the corridos album itself — it remains a confirmed work in progress, not a dated release.
Maluma's Música Mexicana Interest
Maluma, meanwhile, teased a deeper dive into música mexicana, pointing to "Según Quién," his collaboration with Carín León, as the spark for his growing fascination with the genre. To be clear: the Colombian star teased the idea — he did not announce a dedicated música mexicana album.
His recent collaborations have kept him at the top of the Latin charts, including the fan-favorite duet 'AGUA' by Maluma and Shakira and his long run of hits alongside fellow Colombian icon Shakira. A música mexicana project would mark his most ambitious genre detour yet.
