The first musical collaboration between Madonna and Charli xcx has arrived. "Danceteria Afterhours" is an Afterhours rework of "Danceteria", taken from Madonna's 15th studio album Confessions II, and it finds the two pop visionaries trading their club-origin stories across the track. Madonna looks back to the early-80s New York club scene that raised her, while Charli recalls her London rave beginnings and the L.A. PC Music years. The single was chosen by Billboard readers as the week's favorite new music.

Named after Danceteria, the legendary 1980s New York nightclub where Madonna got her start, the song turns its title into a roll call of downtown history. Madonna's verse name-drops Martin Burgoyne, Haoui Montaug, Fab 5 Freddy, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Kenny Scharf, Maripol, the Rock Steady Crew and Crazy Legs. Charli xcx answers with a new verse about her own club beginnings: slipping out to Hackney Wick at fifteen after being invited through Myspace, and landing in L.A. in 2015 alongside A. G. Cook and SOPHIE. The two also shared the stage when Charli joined Madonna's surprise opening medley at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on September 27, 2026 — a medley that closed with "Bring Your Love" by Madonna & Sabrina Carpenter.
