Career

Born in Miami, Florida, on January 15, 1981, to Cuban immigrant parents, Pitbull was raised mostly by his mother. He broke into the music scene in the early 2000s working with rapper and producer Lil Jon, a connection that led to his debut album M.I.A.M.I. in 2004, released on TVT Records with Lil Jon as executive producer. He followed it with El Mariel (2006) and The Boatlift (2007), steadily building his name in Southern hip-hop with a reggaetón edge.

His mainstream breakthrough arrived with Pitbull Starring in Rebelution (2009). The lead single "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)" reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, while "Hotel Room Service" climbed to No. 8, making him a fixture on pop radio. He then went full global-pop: "Give Me Everything" (2011), featuring Ne-Yo, Afrojack, and Nayer, topped the charts in eight countries including the United Kingdom; "Timber," featuring Kesha, became another worldwide smash; and his turn on Jennifer Lopez's "On the Floor" kept him at the top of the charts around the world. The hits brought him a Grammy Award in 2016 (Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album for Dale), a Latin Grammy, two Billboard Music Awards, nine Billboard Latin Music Awards, and a place as Billboard's 45th Top Artist of the 2010s.

Pitbull kept up a heavy touring schedule, including the 2025 Party After Dark Tour. His latest project is PITCOIN, his 14th studio album, announced on August 12, 2026, and released on October 9, 2026, through Mr. 305 Records with 24 tracks.
