Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan are teaming up for the "expectations" remix, which drops tonight — Thursday, October 15 in the United States, arriving at 1:00 a.m. BST on Friday, October 16 in the United Kingdom. Rodrigo confirmed the collaboration on her socials on October 13, writing that she is "beyond excited to announce 'expectations' featuring Chappell Roan!!! song and video out Thursday!!!!"
The release is a landmark for both artists. For Roan, it is her first-ever feature as a guest artist — and her first release of any kind in over a year. For Rodrigo, the remix gives new life to "expectations," a track from her third studio album, and pairs her with one of pop's most talked-about voices.

How the Collaboration Happened
The first hint arrived on October 12, when Rodrigo posted a studio clip on Instagram. In it, a voice fans believed sounded like Roan says, "Ooh, Olivia does remixes now." The tease sent fans into overdrive, though neither artist confirmed the collaboration at that point.
Confirmation came the next day, October 13, when Rodrigo announced the remix on her socials with the message: "beyond excited to announce 'expectations' featuring Chappell Roan!!! song and video out Thursday!!!!"
According to The Sun's Bizarre column, the idea for the team-up grew out of the pair's time together at Rodrigo's Daisy Chain Fields festival in August — an all-women festival that also marked Roan's first live performance since May. That account has not been confirmed by either artist's camp.
The track was produced by Daniel Nigro, a mutual collaborator of both Rodrigo and Roan who has shaped much of Rodrigo's sound across her three albums. Interscope is also issuing physical editions of the single: 7-inch vinyl, cassette and CD.
Roan's autumn has been busy beyond the remix — headlines have also included Chappell Roan's Super Graphic Spectacular benefit concert. Readers can explore more artist coverage in the Sabrina Carpenter biography, the RAYE biography and the Billie Eilish biography.
