Miley's 13-year wait is over — "Bass Persuades" debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, her first chart-topper since "Bangerz" in 2013, edging out Ella Langley in one of the tightest three-way races of the year.

Bass Persuades Hits No. 1
"Bass Persuades" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 (chart dated October 3, 2026) with 61,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending September 24, 2026, according to Billboard and Luminate data. The total breaks down to 47,000 pure album sales plus 14,000 streaming equivalent units (14.22 million on-demand streams). The album also starts at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Album Sales chart.
It is Miley's first Billboard 200 No. 1 since "Bangerz" (October 2013) — a 13-year gap between chart-toppers. The album marks her sixth No. 1 album and her 16th top-10 album overall.
The photo finish was one of the tightest of the year: Ella Langley's "Dandelion" held No. 2 with roughly 61,000 units — check out the Choosin' Texas lyrics from her breakout album — while Riley Green's "That's Just Me" landed at No. 3 with 60,000 units. All three albums finished within about 1,000 units of each other.
Miley is the third act in 2026 to return to No. 1 after at least a decade between chart-toppers, following Bruno Mars' "The Romantic" in March and A$AP Rocky's "Don't Be Dumb" in January.
"Bass Persuades" is Miley's 10th studio album — her first released under the mononym "Miley" and her first project with Atlantic Records. Announced September 1, it arrived September 18, 2026. The title track debuted at No. 35 on the Hot 100 (chart dated September 19) — her 24th top-40 hit — and the rollout included 16 vinyl variants, nine CD editions, six download versions and a cassette.
Miley thanked fans on Instagram, writing: "Bass Persuades being #1 transcends a win… I love you, Smilers." Atlantic chairman/CEO Elliot Grainge also shared a note marking the milestone.
