Early Life
Born Madhuri Shankar Dixit on May 15, 1967, in Mumbai, she grew up in a Marathi family as the daughter of Shankar and Snehalata Dixit. A trained Kathak dancer since childhood, she devoted years to the classical dance form before entering films. She also pursued academics and studied Microbiology at Mumbai University.
Career
Madhuri made her acting debut with Abodh (1984), but it was Tezaab (1988) that made her a star — the "Ek Do Teen" number became a rage across India. (1994), Raja (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997) and Devdas (2002). Her graceful dancing and expressive acting made her the leading lady of the nineties, and many of her most memorable songs were voiced by legends like Lata Mangeshkar biography, Asha Bhosle biography and Alka Yagnik biography.
After a break, she made a comeback with Aaja Nachle (2007), later earning praise for Dedh Ishqiya (2014) and Kalank (2019). With more than 70 Hindi films to her credit, she stands among the finest actresses of her generation — a league that also includes Kajol biography and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan biography.
