About Made in Chicago
Made in Chicago is an all-original nine-song collection celebrating Chicago, Lalah Hathaway's birthplace — a city whose musical identity was shaped by the Great Migration. Every track carries that heritage forward.
The opener "47th Street," featuring spoken word from J. Ivy, pays tribute to Chicago's historic South Side. "Can't Let Go" is a quiet-storm ballad built around an interpolation of The Stylistics' 1971 hit "You Are Everything."
Hathaway co-produced the album with Phil Beaudreau, joined by an elite lineup including saxophonists Amber Navran (of Moonchild) and Hailey Niswanger, plus flutist Elena Pinderhughes. A five-time Grammy winner (five wins from thirteen nominations), Hathaway is celebrating the release on tour, with shows at the Blue Note on October 11 with Robert Glasper and Sony Hall on November 15.
