Early Life

Born Adéla Jergová on November 27, 2003, in Bratislava, Slovakia, ADÉLA is a 22-year-old singer-songwriter now based in Los Angeles. Long before pop stardom, she trained as a ballet dancer — starting lessons in Moscow at just three years old and later studying at the Vienna State Ballet and the English National Ballet School in London.

Remarkably, she taught herself English from age eight by watching American television, speaking fluently by nine. It was also as a child that she first dreamed of becoming a singer, inspired by Hannah Montana.

Career

In 2023, ADÉLA competed on Dream Academy, the reality competition that created the girl group KATSEYE — read the full KATSEYE biography for the group's story. She was eliminated before the final lineup was chosen, so she did not join KATSEYE.

She bounced back as a solo artist with her 2024 debut single "Homewrecked," signed with Capitol Records in 2025, and released her debut EP The Provocateur that same year. Then came her debut studio album Prima, released September 4, 2026: it debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 with 56,000 units in its first week (week ending September 10) and topped both Top Album Sales and Vinyl Albums (dated September 19) — the highest entry for a debut full-length that year.

The album's singles made history. "Ain't In LA lyrics by ADÉLA" made her the first Slovak artist ever to chart on the US Billboard Hot 100, debuting at No. 85 before jumping from 57 to 30 — her first Top 40 hit. Follow-up "Nicole Kidman lyrics by ADÉLA" debuted at No. 45 and later climbed to No. 22. Prima was executive-produced by Dylan Brady of 100 gecs and Blake Slatkin, with ADÉLA citing Beyoncé and Lady Gaga as structural references for her sound.
